I was lucky enough to ask my friend Chloe, @reading_with_chloe, some questions about books!

YA Books are Epic: Thank you so much for agreeing to do this with me!!
Chloe: Of course!
YA Books are Epic: Who or what caused you to start reading?

Chloe: The Infernal Devices was really the book series that got me into reading. I had of course read some popular books before that like The Fault in Our Stars and The Hunger Games, but I really just read those because they were popular at the time. I didn’t start to go “book crazy” until I met my first fiction boyfriend Will Herondale.
YA Books are Epic: When did you start your bookstagram?
Chloe: April 29th 2015 is when I turned my Avatar the Last Airbender fan account into a bookstagram account, but to be honest I didn’t really start to get serious about my bookstagram account until 2020. Like most people I was locked in my house with not much to do, and so I started to explore my creativity with my bookstagram.
YA Books are Epic: Do you have a favorite book/series?

Chloe: Oh let me tell you about the love of my life… Thomas Cresswell. To answer the question, yes I do have a favorite series. I first read Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco in 2017 and have been OBSESSED with it ever since. Its a murder mystery with romance with very sarcastic and charming characters.
YA Books are Epic: If you had to be stuck on a boat with one person (real or imaginary) who would it be and why?
Chloe: Can I say Toothless from How to Train your Dragon? Honestly I would definitely pick Magnus Bane. He’s a magical warlock who could easily get us off the boat, but he would do it in style, and overall just would be super fun to hang out with.
YA Books are Epic: If you could spend the day with an author who would you choose and what would you do assuming money is no problem?

Chloe: I would love to be able to meet Kerri Manisalco. She is my favorite author so I would probably be a gushing mess the whole time, but I would love to do an escape room or a scavenger hunt with her, and then end our day at a cat cafe drinking tea, playing with cats, and talking about books.
YA Books are Epic: When you were growing up which fictional characters did you relate to? Which character do you relate to now?
Chloe: This is a hard question. Growing up I really loved to watch Disney movies, but I didn’t really relate to any of the characters. I would say maybe Oliver from Oliver and Company. He was just this little kitten trying to figure out the world around him. Now I think I relate more towards characters like Belle from Beauty and the Beast or Tessa from the Infernal Devices. Both of them just really want to read all the time and are a little bit sarcastic.
YA Books are Epic: Which format do you prefer to read? Hardcover, Paperback, Audiobook or eBook?
Chloe: A year ago I would have said hardcover or audiobook, but recently I have fallen in love with ebooks. It seems like I am constantly traveling, and so ebooks have been the easiest way for me to read. It is also just convenient to have a book on your phone or Kindle to read.

YA Books are Epic: On your Instagram you have lots of makeup looks and beautiful artistic pictures how do you come up with these and how long does it take?

Chloe: First thank you! I haven’t been able to do a makeup look recently because of the amount of time and money that it costs, but I really do enjoy doing them. My most recent look I did was for Heartless by Marissa Meyer and I believe that one took 3 hours to do. I also have some more simple looks like my Gods & Monsters by Shelby Mahurin that only took about an hour to do. How I come up with these looks is a mx of looking on Pinterest and just winging it… the more planned out ones always turn out better.
YA Books are Epic: Thank you so much for your answers and your time!
Chloe: Thank you!
