Gryffindor Books: Jill, thanks so much for agreeing to do this with me!
Jill: Thank you so much! I’m honored to be here (:
Gryffindor Books: What got you into reading? Who or what influenced you to pick up a book?
Jill: As far as who influenced me to pick up a book, that can be traced straight back to my momma. From the minute I was born she would read to me for hours. When I got a little older she would take me for long trips to the bookstore. So, because of my mom books have always been present in my life!
Gryffindor Books: When you were growing up which fictional characters did you relate to? Which character do you relate to now?
Jill: Oh gosh that’s a tough one! When I was growing up, I think I definitely related to Meggie from Inkheart. She is the definition of bookworm and I love her character so much! As of right now, here is when things get a little tricky. I don’t normally see myself a lot in YA characters, unfortunately. But, I think I relate on some level to Lazlo Strange from Strange the Dreamer because he is also a cute, introverted bookworm! I also think I relate a little to Cath from Heartless!
Gryffindor Books: Which format do you prefer to read? Hardcover, Paperback, Audiobook or eBook?
Jill: If I had to choose just one I would go with Hardcovers! They look really pretty on the shelves and they stay open better than most paperbacks (excluding those floppy paperbacks!) However, I’m not incredibly picky when it comes to hardbacks vs paperbacks. I will read either (: I also love audiobooks. I’ve only recently started listening to them, but they offer a completely different reading experience! However, they can get pretty pricey so I cannot listen to them very often, sadly.
Gryffindor Books: When did you start your Book Tube page? Why did you start a Book Tube?
Jill: I remember the exact date for this one! It was December 4th, 2015 (so a little over a year and a half ago). I started my channel for a ton of reasons. The most obvious one is that I love reading and talking to people about books. I was watching Booktube for about 2 years I would say before I worked up the nerve to start my own channel and I have not looked back! I’ve met so many wonderful, beautiful people from all over the world and I am so grateful to be a part of such a loving community. (:
Gryffindor Books: Do you have a favorite video that you’ve created?
Jill: The video that automatically comes to mind for this was one I uploaded almost a year ago and that is my Hamilton Book Tag. It was my first lip syncing type video and for some reason I had an absolute BLAST filming and editing it. Looking back, it’s certainly not my best video, but I look on it with such fondness!
Gryffindor Books: Do you have a favorite Book Tuber? What do they do that you like watching their videos?
Jill: I have to pick just one?!? I have so many favorites!! The first one is definitely Christine from Polandbananasbooks. She’s the one who got me watching Book tube in the first place so she’s for sure a favorite. I also ADORE Ashley from a dash of ash. She’s so bubbly and kind and someone who you can go to and talk about anything with. She’s such a sweetheart and it really shows in her videos!
Gryffindor Books: If you could live with one Author or Book Tuber who would it be and why?
Jill: For author I would probably go with either Sarah J Maas or V.E. Schwab. Both of these ladies are hilarious and seem like such a delight to live with. For Book Tuber, FOR SURE my best friend Raeanne from ReadingRaeanne. She’s literally my soul twin, so living with her would be a dream come true ((:
Gryffindor Books: Thanks so much Jill for agreeing to do this with me!
Jill: Thank you for having me! It was such a delight answering these questions (:
